STILL SINGLE? THE LATEST ON BRAD JONES RACING’S OTHER A-TRAILER
It’s a Supercars transporter that turns heads wherever it goes, but something’s been missing at the start of this season

Noticed Stax Freightliner looks a little shorter this year? That’s because the transporter’s usual A-trailer, built by Shepparton Motor Body Builders back in 2003, is having a freshen up over summer.
That’s meant Brad Jones Racing has used one B-Double transporter as well as Stax Freightliner with just the one trailer for this year’s official test day at Winton and opening round of the season at Mount Panorama Circuit.

After receiving plenty of questions around what’s happening with one of the most popular transporters in the Supercars paddock, we dropped a line to its driver, the ever-popular Paul Eddy, to get the latest.
“This is a job we’ve planned for a while,” he confirmed. “We got a couple of quotes early last year. But like just about everything else, COVID had other plans, and we had to wait until the end of the season.
“The trailer is currently at Royans in Wodonga, who are doing the work for us,” continues Eddy. “The work has been fairly extensive. They’ve replaced the roof and walls, mezzanine and internal frame from the floor up. They’ve also put some more lights on top. Overall, it should match with the newer B-trailer much better.”

Eddy then gave us an update on when we can expect to see the refurbished A-trailer back at the track.
“Everyone is trying hard to get it ready for Sandown in a couple of weeks, though we might not have enough time to get it into RGI, where the new livery will be applied. But never say never.”

And with the lack of a livery for the start of the season, we quizzed Eddy about whether the understated look for the race transporter has had any hidden benefits so far.
“The only good thing about the livery not being done yet is that when it gets done, everybody else's design has already been released. That means we’ll have some clear airtime to give our sponsors maximum exposure. The new wrap will be worth the wait.”
