CHECK OUT THIS INCREDIBLE RC RACE TRANSPORTER

This isn’t quite the real thing, but it’s not far off either

It started with a YouTube search, and it ended on eBay. That’s fairly common for a Friday night at Trucks at Tracks HQ, but we knew we had to write about this one.

While researching an upcoming article about some diecast race car transporter models, we came across a video of a radio controlled race truck transporter setup at a model fair in Erfurt, Germany in 2019. You can watch it below.

As you’ll see, this is a serious setup. Opening doors, mechanical ramps, an expanding driver lounge, spare parts up top, more working lights than a Christmas tree and even some glorious Scania engine sounds from the prime mover. This has got the lot.

The race truck is a cool piece of kit, too. It’s a Scania model you’ll often see running in the FIA European Truck Racing Championship. And while it’s probably dazzling in a straight line like most other radio-controlled race models, the highlight of the video is the operator reversing up the ramps at around the 2:45 mark.

As far as we know, this is a fictional race team. But if anyone knows better, please let us know. We’d love nothing more than to see a full Scania factory team launching an assault on the FIA European Truck Racing Championship scene.

But it wasn’t over when this video finished. The YouTube algorithm clearly picked up that we watched it all the way through multiple times. Our recommendations were then graced with some other RC race transporter content. You bet we clicked on it.

The next one was also from Germany, with the video captured at the Modellbau-Messe event in late 2018. But this time, it’s MAN equipment, rather than Scania.

This is a slightly different trailer, too, and looks to feature a few less mechanical moving parts. But it’s still seriously cool, right down to the wheel chocks to keep the MAN TGS race truck in place when it’s on the move. You can watch the full video below.

And for fans of real-life truck racing, someone has even replicated a Castrol Team Hahn Racing rig from when the German team was running a Castrol-backed MAN race truck. This one is well worth watching all the way through, especially to see how the truck is loaded back onto the trailer.
