IS THIS THE WORLD’S COOLEST SCANIA RACE TRANSPORTER?
Scania fans, you’ll want to see this beauty from Brazil
Today, we’re heading to Curitiba, the capital of the southern Brazilian state of Paraná. That’s where you’ll find Mevania Diesel, a truck repair shop specialising in Scania and Volvo trucks. And in their spare time, they go racing.
Some serious road-going trucks roll into Mevania Diesel for a freshen up. Brazil’s population of over 211 million depends on hundreds of thousands of prime movers hauling freight across punishing landscapes. And Mevania’s mechanics get plenty of practice dealing with trucks that operate at the extremes.
But the Mevania business doesn’t just deal with road-going trucks. The Curitiba squad has scaled up its involvement in motorsport this year with a big commitment to the relaunch of Brazil’s iconic Formula Truck series that thrilled crowds with high-quality truck racing for decades.
Mevania Racing Team fielded two spectacular Scania 113H race trucks in the Formula Truck 2021 opener at Interlagos last weekend. And it was a strong showing from both Mevania trucks, with Marcio Rampon coming in runner-up after leading the middle stint of the race and Paulinho Rampon ranked fifth.
But predictably, it was the transporter that caught our eye. The truck up front is also a bonneted Scania 113H, with the grunt to pull the Scania race truck pair, as well as a Volvo N series, to the São Paulo circuit and back. It’s also decked out in the Mevania blue and yellow, with a stance as aggressive as the race trucks. And to top it off, there’s old school white lettering on the tyres and two side exhausts. Say no more!
We’ve seen a couple of still photos of this setup in action over the years, and earlier in the week, Mevania uploaded a video of the race transporter arriving back to Curitiba to begin the unload. And it’s a great chance to hear the classic Scania engine note. You can listen to it by clicking on the image below.
We’d also highly recommend checking out the convoy of trucks that preceded the Formula Truck duel at Interlagos below. Skip to the 15-minute mark to watch them roll off the starting grid.
