WATCH: NASCAR HAULERS ARRIVE AT SONOMA RACEWAY

Settle in for 15-minutes of the coolest American race car rigs rolling into a famous racing venue in California

There is some serious race car hauler weaponry in the NASCAR Cup Series, and a spectacular convoy of 36 top-flight transporters proved it at Sonoma Raceway last Sunday morning.

The convoy travelled the opposite way up the Sonoma Raceway drag strip, before turning left onto the main racing surface and then into the pit area.

The haulers become more bunched as the convoy progresses. That’s because the earlier arrivals were taking their place in the pit paddock to set up for 350 miles at the Californian venue.

The NASCAR Cup Series paddock is dominated by Freightliner trucks this season, with no less than 18 in the top-flight category. There are 10 Peterbilt prime movers, three Mack trucks, two International Lonestar-led haulers, two Kenworth trucks and a single Volvo VNL.

The (very) unofficial award for best air horn went to the Wood Brothers Racing Freightliner-led hauler, closely followed by the Team Penske rig for Brad Keselowski’s Ford Mustang race car.  

The next stop for the NASCAR Cup Series haulers is Texas Motor Speedway for All Star Weekend, which tallies a 1700-mile journey to the east. The on-track action gets underway on Friday, with the NASCAR Cup, Xfinity and Truck Series teams racing over the weekend.
