If you can’t get enough of 20th Century race transporter content, we’ve got plenty of nostalgia coming your way this week

With most forms of motorsport still at a standstill in Australia, we’re doing something completely different on Trucks at Tracks Australia this week. And it all starts tomorrow!

You know, ‘Boys from the Bush’, Ford LTLs, roadside breakdowns and race trailers that were anything but luxurious. And that’s just a glimpse of what we’re writing about. We’ll cover a period spanning the first big bangers in the paddock right up until the millennium bug threatened to end motorsport, and the small matter of civilisation, as we knew it.

We’ll post six classic stories on the website this week, looking at some famous Australian race transporters and sitting down with local transport icons who were involved in Australian truck racing, including Frank Amoroso and Bert Winters.

We’ll also post at least one pre-2000 photo per day on our Trucks at Tracks Australia Facebook and Instagram accounts. Make sure you’re following them to catch the classic rigs from bygone eras in Australian motorsport.

‘Classics Week’ starts on Monday morning (September 13) and runs until next Saturday night (September 18).
