AUSTRALIAN RACING GROUP TRANSPORTERS STAY PUT DUE TO COVID-19 LOCKDOWN

It’s been a tough seven days for race fans Down Under

As the Repco Supercars Championship transporters escape the latest COVID-19 outbreak in Victoria, another big motorsport event has been postponed.

The Australian Racing Group rigs were setting up for the trip to the country-themed round at Morgan Park Raceway later this month, but with many of the TCR Australia, Trans Am Australia, Touring Car Masters, Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge, National Sports Sedan and outfits from the other categories located in Melbourne, organisers were faced with either decimated fields or a later date.

They chose the latter, pushing the Morgan Park Raceway hit out to the weekend of August 14-15.

It’s set to be a significant event when the COVID-19 situation subsides, and while our transporter-focused travel plans have been cancelled for now, we’re hoping to be in the paddock to get some photos, footage and stories of the big rigs in the Sunshine State.

The postponement comes after the Repco Supercars Championship Winton SuperSprint was pushed back to the first weekend of August, making that a busy month for motorsport fans and race transporter spotters.
