WITHOUT TRUCKS AUSTRALIA STOPS
A handful of Australian motorsport prime movers have been redeployed into everyday freight duties at a critical time in our history.
The world has been rocked by the spread of COVID-19. That’s meant that in 2020, motorsport is off, while isolation, social-distancing and hand sanitizer are most definitely on.
But as supply chains come under siege, idle transport equipment from the motorsport world has been redeployed to haul different kinds of freight.
Here are a couple of examples:
The Walkinshaw Andretti United/Palm Trans Kenworth
The first story comes from the Supercars world thanks to Walkinshaw Andretti United’s truck driver, Vin Borgia. Vin has been making three round trips from Melbourne to Sydney each week, describing the non-motorsport freight as “bloody heavy”.

The Porsche Motorsport Australia Kenworth
This story came to us from Gary Wieden, who is at the helm of the well-known Porsche Motorsport Kenworth prime mover. Here’s how the motorsport and transport worlds came together to deliver a critical product to Australia’s biggest city.

The Melbourne Performance Centre fleet
They’re some of the most stunning rigs in any paddock, but the Melbourne Performance Centre rigs aren’t shying away from the hard yards either. These trucks have been hitting the Hume Highway, with regular trips from Melbourne to Sydney.
Here’s a shot of the trio thanks to Damian Johnson, missing only the Scania prime mover which was heading back to Melbourne at the time.
