WATCH: 2019 SUPERCARS BATHURST 1000 TRANSPORTER PARADE

Settle in for a couple of minutes of race transporter goodness while we wait for the 2021 Repco Bathurst 1000

It hasn’t been an easy year Down Under. The second year of the COVID-19 pandemic has proven just as difficult, if not even more challenging, on the eastern seaboard of Australia. For local touring car fans, the reality that the Supercars haven’t raced since July is all the evidence you need of the extent of the disruption on the east coast.

In any other year, we’d know the 2021 Bathurst 1000 winner by the third weekend in October. But thankfully, we’ve got a date locked in for this year’s race. And with any luck, it’ll be a bigger spectacle than first thought with vaccination rates soaring across the country and multiple categories chomping at the bit for some track time at Mount Panorama Circuit.

This year’s Great Race is planned for the first weekend of December, preceded by four Repco Supercars Championship rounds at Sydney Motorsport Park starting next week.

So, while we wait out a few more weeks for the big rigs to converge on Bathurst, we’ve sourced some footage taken by Queensland-based motorsport photographer, Matthew Paul, during the 2019 Supercars Bathurst 1000 Transporter Parade.

Matthew was standing in prime position among a crowd of thousands lining William Street to see the big rigs power up the hill toward Mount Panorama Circuit.

You can watch his footage in full below.

If you noticed that first truck doesn’t look like a race transporter, you’d be right. The Ballinger Transport B-Double up front led the pack in a fitting tribute to local transport icon, Dane Ballinger, who lost his life in a tragic accident the previous month.

The convoy also had a couple of extras at the back, with the Kostecki Brothers Racing rig and Walkinshaw Andretti United wildcard transporter adding to the spectacle through the heart of Bathurst.

Another big thank you to Matthew Paul for sharing this footage with us.

The Repco Supercars Championship rigs will hit the road again next week, ready to park up at Sydney Motorsport Park next Thursday before a big weekend of racing.
