The NTI Townsville 500 hung in the balance last week, but with an improving COVID-19 situation in North Queensland, the transporter parade is locked and loaded for this Wednesday afternoon.

All the Repco Supercars Championship transporters will rumble through some of Townsville’s busiest streets line astern, creating an incredible spectacle not seen in North Queensland since July 2019.

The start time is listed at 12pm and it’s scheduled to finish at around 1:30pm, but we’ll update this story as we get more information on exactly what time the trucks will fire up.

The convoy will begin on the corner of Ingham Road and Webb Drive. From there, they’ll head west and then turn right onto Shaw Road. Spectators will be permitted all the way along Webb Road and the short stretch of the Bruce Highway.

They’ll then head south on Shaw Road and peel off at Hervey Range Road, heading back in the direction of the Reid Park Street Circuit. Spectating is allowed all the way along the 15-kilometre stint along Hervey Range Road and Charters Towers Road, before they head into the battleground for this weekend.

You can find the full route here, which includes marked sections where spectating is permitted.

It’s been a smoother trip north for some transporters than others, with Stax Freightliner’s run into Queensland halted by an air leak on the brake booster last night. However, Paul Eddy reported that his quick fix is holding so far today, and the Brad Jones Racing B-Double is chewing up kilometres again.

Some of the race transporters have already arrived in Townsville, with Blanchard Racing Team’s B-Double and the Supercars Kenworth T610 and Kenworth K200 transporters already going through Big Boys Super Wash in Mount St John.

The action gets underway at Reid Park on Friday, with the Super 2, Porsche Carrera Cup, Stadium Super Trucks and Toyota 86 Racing Series transporters also on their way Townsville as we speak.
