THE MERRY-GO-ROUND OF TRUCK BRANDS

Things never stay the same too long in the Supercars truck world.

This year, we welcome a few more Kenworth and Mercedes trucks, while we say goodbye to Scania, International and Volvo for now.

The representation of the Kenworth brand in Supercars has grown fourfold for the new decade, with Tickford Racing acquiring two new Australian-built Kenworth K200s, while Walkinshaw Andretti is also running a Kenworth K200 Palm Trans prime mover.

This means International Trucks Australia is no longer represented in the Supercars paddock, and we’ve waved goodbye to Scania after the first two rounds as Walkinshaw Andretti United waits on a new truck.

The other big brand switch came from is Penrite Racing, which will run a Mercedes Benz Actros thanks to a long-standing relationship with Griffith Corporation. This meant the team said goodbye to the Westar Truck Centre-supplied MAN TGX which powered the Melbourne team’s gear around last year.

With Kelly Racing dropping two cars for 2020, it also means we’ll see one less Mack Superliner on the grid, but the partnership remains through the team’s single B-Double.

The departure of Garry Rogers Motorsport from Supercars also means Volvo Trucks Australia is missing from the paddock this year.

So, with all that in mind , here’s the representation of Supercars truck brands in 2020:

Kenworth: 4

Mercedes Benz: 2

Freightliner: 2

MAN: 2

IVECO: 1

Mack: 1

Keep an eye on our social media pages for updates on any new trucks to arrive in the paddock.
