SPOTTED: SPRINTCAR TRANSPORTERS AT ARCHERFIELD SPEEDWAY
Some of Queensland’s best sprintcar transporters rolled into Archerfield Speedway for its 2021/2022 season opener last Saturday night

Summer never feels far away when 410 sprintcars fire up late on a Saturday afternoon, and the 2021/2022 speedway season is roaring to life in South East Queensland.
It all kicked off with the Thunder on the Downs event at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway last month. Now Archerfield is off and running with the opening round of the East Coast Logistics Series held in front of a big crowd last Saturday.
29 sprintcars entered the event, even with some uncertainty around the COVID-19 situation in Brisbane. They were joined by big fields of Midgets, Wingless Sprintcars and high-revving Formula 500 racers. And with the all clear to race coming through on Saturday morning, the speedway transporters burned some diesel on their way to the Acacia Ridge venue on a warm afternoon south of Brisbane.
Queensland-based motorsport photographer, Matthew Paul, was on hand to capture the transporters rolling into Archerfield Speedway, the teams unloading their weaponry and the diesel departures after the feature.

The crowd was treated to a thrilling feature race for the sprintcars which saw Luke Oldfield take the chequered flag ahead of Lachlan McHugh and Cody Maroske. Oldfield did it the hard way, with both McHugh and Maroske controlling the feature before the eventual winner came storming through late in the race.
Roughly 2000 kilometres to the south-west, the South Australian sprintcar season also got underway at Murray Bridge Speedway last Saturday night. Matt Egel continued his winning ways from Chariots of Thunder in Darwin to claim the feature win. Check out the transporters in the pits at Murray Bridge posted by ‘Grey Motor’ on our Facebook group.
