In the motorsport world, every trip matters at this time of year. And with a tight championship battle as well as spectators returning to the track, the Stock Car Pro Series teams and drivers stepped into the spotlight over the weekend.

Their transporters travelled south to Santa Cruz do Sul last week, a small city in Rio Grande do Sul approximately 150 kilometres east of Porto Alegre. That’s where we find the Autódromo Internacional de Santa Cruz do Sul, an undulating circuit with fast corners and a long pit straight.

Last weekend, the circuit hosted its first Stock Car Pro Series meeting since July of 2019. And better yet, crowds were on hand to see it under bright sunshine; the first time the series has welcomed spectators since the start of the pandemic.

Brazilian motorsport photographer, Duda Bairros, was on hand to capture the paddock from above on Friday afternoon. And on Sunday, he also snapped a handful of paddock shots before the racing got underway, pointing his lens at some of the best race transporters in Brazil.

Check out our gallery of Duda’s photos below.

When the green lights unleashed a full field of V8 stock cars, Ipiranga Racing took the honours thanks to a flawless drive by Thiago Camilo. He was chased home by Júlio Campos of Lubrax Podium Stock Car Team and Allam Khodair of Blau Motorsport respectively.

The second race saw Ricardo Maurício storm through the field to claim the victory for Eurofarma-RC and Chevrolet. He held off the Full Time Sports duo of Rafael Suzuki and Rubens Barrichello.

Gabriel Casagrande extended his championship lead over Daniel Serra in both races at Santa Cruz do Sul. The AMattheis Vogel Motorsport driver now holds a 25-point advantage heading into the season finale next month.

The Stock Car Pro Series transporters will travel to the Autódromo José Carlos Pace in São Paulo in just under three weeks’ time.
