Sprintcar fans in South East Queensland were treated to another glorious night of racing at Archerfield Speedway last Saturday. There’s simply no stopping the smell of methanol up north!

Another stacked field of 29 entries nominated for the event, with some of the Sunshine State’s biggest sprintcar haulers loaded up with 410 weaponry earlier in the day.

The winged monsters were joined by entries in the Sprintcar Development Series, Modlites, Speedcars, Sedans, Formula 500 Juniors and AMCA Nationals.

Queensland-based motorsport photographer, Matthew Paul, was in the paddock early to catch the sprintcar transporters rolling in. On a flawless Brisbane day, he shot some spectacular rigs on the hunt for a parking spot in the paddock area.

Check out our gallery of Matthew’s photos below.

The racing went deep into the night, with Jock Goodyer seeing the chequered flag first in the 30-lap feature. The Tasmanian was chased home by Lachlan McHugh and Luke Oldfield. The in-form trio of Queensland sprintcar racing also occupied the top three positions at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway the weekend prior.

The teams have some downtime this weekend before they head to Archerfield Speedway again on Saturday October 30.

With speedway warming up again Down Under, you’ll find the big rigs rolling all over the country on our Australian accounts on Facebook and Instagram.
