RACE TRANSPORTERS AND ROUNDABOUTS

Scouting out some B-Double race transporters on the beaches of Port Melbourne

Last night, we made our way to Station Pier, Port Melbourne, to see a couple of Australia’s best race transporters disembarking from the Spirit of Tasmania. You can find the footage here.

They had made the trip across Bass Strait for the inaugural Race Tasmania double-header, which saw the Australian Racing Group categories of TCR Australia, Super5000, Touring Car Masters and Trans Am Australia visit Symmons Plains and Baskerville Raceway on consecutive weekends.

On yesterday’s crossing of Bass Strait were two Melbourne Performance Centre B-Doubles, two Garry Rogers Motorsport B-Doubles, an extra transporter to support the Garry Rogers Motorsport S5000 program, and a couple of car carriers with various race cars aboard.

Driving the single-trailer Garry Rogers Motorsport Valvoline transporter was TCR Australia driver, Dylan O’Keeffe, who is driving for Renault Sport GRM this year. You can see footage of O’Keeffe steering the GRM Volvo FH here.

The next big motorsport trip to the Apple Isle will be the third round of the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship season on April 10-11.

In the meantime, there is plenty happening in the world of transporters, with new trucks, trailers and paint schemes being finalized for the 2021 Australian motorsport season. Stay tuned to our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts for all the latest.
