Dick Johnson Racing’s Ford Mustangs will be towed around the country by an MAN TGX prime mover this year, continuing a combination that’s familiar to eagle-eyed transporter fans Down Under.
The confirmation came earlier this week, as Dick Johnson Racing unveiled its 2025 driver lineup, livery and transporter configuration.
The Stapylton-based team took delivery of an all-new MAN TGX 26.640 before the Darwin Triple Crown last year. And yes, the 640 in the model name stands for the horsepower produced by the D38 engine.

Hamish Christie-Johnston, managing director of Penske Australia & New Zealand, said the delivery of a brand-new MAN to the team mid-last year was one of many key milestones in the extensive partnership to date.
“The all-new MAN TGX prime mover delivered to the Shell V-Power Racing Team features the powerhouse 640hp engine, boasts excellent driver fit, great efficiency and economy, and optimises uptime,” he said.
“As with the team’s performance on the race track, MAN combines power, efficiency, and safety into an innovative and impressive package.”
The Dick Johnson Racing rig was at Ipswich on Thursday, as Brodie Kostecki and Will Davison blew off the cobwebs ahead of the season opener in Sydney next weekend.
The season opener will be a trip of just under 10 hours for long-time DJR truck driver, Wayne Cowper.
