McLAREN AND VOLVO KEEP ON TRUCKIN’
The partnership between McLaren Racing and Volvo Trucks has been locked in for another two years.
Volvo Trucks has been the official truck supplier to the McLaren Formula 1 team since 2016 and they’re set to stick around until at least 2021.
The 540 horsepower Volvo FH trucks move both the race team equipment and its enormous hospitality facilities between race meetings (if you haven’t seen them, they are probably bigger and more luxurious than your house!).
The team also benefits from Volvo Trucks’ latest technology including the new I-See cloud-based mapping system. All of this helps to keep the team’s fuel bill under control while transporting their precious cargo comfortably and safely.
McLaren Racing Managing Director for Sales & Marketing, Mark Waller, spoke of the benefits of the partnership to the celebrated Woking outfit.
“We are proud to continue our partnership with as prestigious a brand as Volvo Trucks, who are renowned for their innovative and high-performance heavy goods transport solutions. Transporting the McLaren Formula 1 team from country to country in an efficient, reliable and safe manner is essential to the smooth running of our team and we look forward to continuing on this journey together.”
Robert Grozdanovski, Managing Director, Volvo Trucks UK & Ireland, found plenty of similarities between the two brands.
“We are extremely proud to continue our relationship with McLaren Racing, especially since our two companies share a number of values, like our approach to quality and innovation, and are both very much leaders in our use of technology to deliver solutions in demanding businesses. As a truly global brand, Volvo has a presence on every continent, so this co-operation provides the possibility for us to offer selected customers and stakeholders a unique experience. We are both winners in the race to find technological solutions to a very different set of transport challenges: McLaren on the track and Volvo Trucks on the roads and highways of the world.”
