HERE’S YOUR CHANCE TO DRIVE AN F1 TRUCK

It takes a lot of trucks to move the Formula 1 gear around Europe, and Eddie Stobart is scouting for drivers to steer them

Stobart is recruiting truck drivers to join its ‘Special Operations Division’ in 2022. In other words, they’re looking for the best steerers on the road to move multi-million-dollar Formula 1 equipment to Grands Prix in the UK and mainland Europe.

The famous British transport company has multiple contracts with Formula 1 teams including Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team and Williams Racing, as well as Pirelli and the FIA. Whether they’re moving race gear, tyres or hospitality units, plenty of responsibility rests in the hands of Stobart’s F1 truck drivers.

The listing, posted to the Stobart Facebook page, describes the role within its Special Operations Division as ‘demanding but extremely rewarding’. And that checks out, with talk of no less than three triple-headers on next year’s F1 calendar.

It also lists the requirement for drivers to hold a C+E licence, which means you’ll need to be able to drive an articulated vehicle or a rigid towing a large trailer.

If you’ve long dreamed of driving a truck at the top level of motorsport, your next step is to complete the application on Stobart’s website by Friday November 12. Stobart is also holding a recruitment day for prospective drivers to meet the teams and check out their gear on Saturday November 20.

We’ve done some clicking around on the Stobart website, and you can apply directly by searching for ‘special operations’ here.

There’s one more European round on the Formula 1 calendar this year, with all the gear heading to Istanbul for this weekend’s Turkish Grand Prix.
