GALLERY: TRANSPORTER TRIPS TO DARWIN

Many Australian motorsport truckies call it their favourite trip of the year, and they’re Darwin-bound as we speak

Like 2020, this year’s trip to Darwin is going to look different for many of the Repco Supercars Championship outfits. Last year, it was a mad scramble to Queensland, followed by a long wait at the Queensland-Northern Territory border and then a one-week delay.

This year, the Victorian Supercars outfits are starting their trips from various hubs in New South Wales. And while they’re a lot further north than Melbourne, they’ll be making up for it in the number of kilometres they’ll be travelling to the east.

And it’s not just the Supercars rigs heading north-west over the next week. The Australian Super Bikes and Stadium Super Trucks teams are also heading to the Top End on the support category card.

With so many kilometres being covered by many of the best motorsport rigs in the country, we’re looking back at some of the coolest photos taken along the way over the past two decades.

There’s plenty to look forward to for diesel fans in the Top End next week, with the Supercars transporter parade pencilled in for Wednesday evening. We’ll share more details as they come to hand early next week.
