SPOTTED: THE TRANSPORTERS THAT MADE HISTORIC WINTON HAPPEN
The Victorian High Country showed historic racing in its best light, as well as the transporters that made the show happen
The APEX Racing transporter in fading light
We motored up the Hume from Melbourne last Saturday to check out the 44th Historic Winton race meeting at Winton Motor Raceway near Benalla.
The incredible selection of over 400 historic race cars and bikes was a mouth-watering prospect, but as you might have guessed, we weren’t going to turn our backs on the race transporters that got them there.
Like the diverse range of categories that entered the Winton short circuit throughout the weekend, the transporters came in all shapes, sizes and configurations. From regular road cars towing open trailers to 500 horsepower prime movers pulling enclosed race car trailers to retro vans converted into race car carriers, the different solutions to a similar task captured the essence of motorsport.
Here are a few of our favourite race transporter photos taken during the event.

We’re back at Winton this weekend to check out the fifth round of the Repco Supercars Championship, and capture the transporters powering the Dunlop Super2 Series, Haltech SuperUte Series and Toyota 86 Racing Series. Stay tuned!
