Matt Stone Racing made waves in Australian motorsport on Tuesday after unveiling a striking pair of ZB Commodores that will display a host of new sponsors in 2022.
One of those sponsors is DAF Trucks Australia, which in partnership with NTI, has supplied a pair of brand-new DAF XF prime movers to the Yatala team on a multi-year deal.
It’s the first time we’ve seen a DAF truck pulling a race transporter in the Repco Supercars Championship roadshow full-time since 2013, when Tony D’Alberto Racing used a DAF CF tractor unit to tow the Team Hiflex B-Double trailer set to race tracks around Australia.
The PACCAR brand’s return got us searching for some DAF trucks in bygone eras of Australia touring car racing. And with a huge thanks to Mike Cornwall, Hayden Reed, Matthew Paul and Graham Trill, we’ve found a few photos to share with you below.
