2018’S TRAVELS IN PICTURES

Oh, the places they’ve travelled. Many thousands of kilometres have been covered by our faithful transporters this year and your cameras have been working overtime to capture it all.

With just two weeks left in 2018, it’s time we documented the big Supercars journeys of the year. However, before we launch in, we must say another big thank you to everybody who shared photos with us this year. The page would be stranded on the side of the Hume Highway without your contributions.

So, the Supercars season commenced on the streets of Adelaide on the first weekend of March. Lawrie Shem captured the moment the new trucks, trailers and paint schemes met on the famed pit straight.

The Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park in Melbourne was up next before the teams plunged even further south for the Tyrepower Tasmania Supersprint at Symmons Plains. There, Jamie Macrow found the matte black Erebus Motorsport B-Double in the paddock.

The early-season trip across the Nullarbor saw the transporters clock up over 7,000 kilometres from east to west and back again, albeit with a few breaks for posing.

When the cold weather set in down south, the teams made their annual migration north for the Darwin Triple Crown.

The warm weather continued in July and we followed the journeys of the Preston Hire Racing, Mobil 1 Boost Mobile Racing and Milwaukee Racing transporters from Melbourne to Townsville.

In early September, a couple of Supercars championship prime movers towed trailers stacked with hay to farms wearing the brunt of the New South Wales drought.

The biggest race of the year saw all the teams bring their A-game to Mount Panorama Circuit. Found at the start of race week by @MetalGrate, the Autobarn Lowndes Racing transporter later carried the winning gear back to Queensland.

Wild weather struck the Gold Coast when the Supercars were in town, but that didn’t stop David Ross from taking some stunning sunset photos.

The last big trip of the year didn’t involve the transporters beyond the local freight terminals, but it still wouldn’t have happened without them. Robert Wiedeman from Gibson Freight was in the thick of it all.

Like the local motorsport teams, we’re doing it all again in 2019 and welcome all of you along for the ride! Before the transporters roll out for the Adelaide opener next year, there will be plenty of new paint schemes and possible manufacturer switches too.
